You can delete your WanderBuddy account and the data linked to it at any time. Do it in the app, or ask us by email if you no longer have the app. Deleting the app from your phone does not delete your account.
Option 1: in the app (immediate)
- Open WanderBuddy and sign in.
- Go to Profile.
- Tap Delete account and confirm.
Your account is deleted straight away. This cannot be undone.
Option 2: by email (no app needed)
Email support@wanderbuddyapp.com with the subject Delete my account, sent from the email address on your account. If you signed in with Google or Apple, use that account's email address.
We reply to that address to confirm the request came from you, then delete the account within 30 days (usually much sooner) and email you when it is done.
What we delete
- Your account and sign-in details.
- Your profile: name, username, photo, bio, year of birth, gender, nationality, interests and the other answers you gave.
- The photos you uploaded to trips, and any face data made from them for the optional People grouping.
- The trip videos (reels) you uploaded.
- Your chat and direct messages, which are removed from our chat provider.
- Your shared locations, notification tokens, linked WhatsApp number, saved places and inspiration, and the other records linked to your account.
What we keep, and for how long
- Trips other people have joined stay with them, and ownership passes to another member. (Trips only you are in are deleted.) To remove a shared trip for everyone, delete it in the app before you delete your account.
- Purchase records held by Google Play or the App Store, under their own retention rules.
- Moderation records about reported abuse, kept only as long as needed to keep the community safe and enforce our Terms.
- Encrypted backups, which are overwritten on a rolling basis within 30 days.
Deleting some data without closing your account
You can delete individual photos, messages and trips you created, and stop sharing your location, from inside the app. To have other specific data deleted without closing your account, email support@wanderbuddyapp.com.
